My idea behind the MODULAR MIXTURES installations sees art as a participatory system in space, an open adaptive design principle. Unlike traditional art installations, my installations of colored squares understand space as an integral part of the work itself. I design my installations by individually tailoring the size, number, and color composition of the work to the respective space. Every decision regarding the color combination and arrangement of the squares is crucial to the effect of the work. The starting point is the square—self-contained, neutral, but also infinitely combinable. This formal reduction gives me maximum freedom: the modules can be used flat, rhythmically, accentuated, or to guide the space, in linear sequences or offset in dialogue, as a space-defining main feature or a restrained background structure. The combination of modular flexibility and aesthetic rigor creates a special depth that is visually captivating. This is supported by the “floating” of the squares at varying distances from each other and from the wall.

The squares are ready to hang. The spacing is intended to be 1 cm.
