The AdBK Kolbermoor is a private academy of fine art specialising in modern painting. The emphasis is on enabling students to engage intensively with the artistic process and on providing them with the space, opportunities and pathways to discover their own creative potential.
The academy combines a high artistic standard with an approachable atmosphere. Within a unique working environment, international tutors and like-minded students engage in a valuable artistic exchange.
I was once again fortunate enough to take part in the summer academy with Prof. Markus Lüpertz, as well as the other tutors Friedrich Dieckgießer, Leander Kresse and Reinhold Braun. Painting for over a week from morning until night – it hardly gets any more intense than that. At the same time, there was an open dialogue with like-minded course participants. And there was regular, valuable input from all the lecturers.
The critique sessions with Prof. Markus Lüpertz, however, are second to none. Prof. Lüpertz is an artist and teacher with all his heart and with complete conviction. He teaches with enthusiasm and humour. I have never felt more motivated than when receiving his praise or even his constructive criticism. We were all also lucky enough to hear him speak on general topics such as art, the contemporary art world, or the turmoil of the artist’s existence – and, of course, to experience him at the legendary free jazz concert, where he played the piano. It was another fantastic week!!
