Helmut Kesberg, born 1948 in Bensberg near Cologne.
Since 2012 studio in the studio house ART FACTORY in Cologne-Dünnwald.
Member of the BBK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg.
Numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
Helmut Kesberg's work focuses on printmaking (color woodcut from several plates), drawing, travel sketches, painting and drawn film. What he particularly likes about woodblock printing is the experiment, the superimposition of layers of color, the unpredictable line and the surprise when the paper is lifted after passing through the printing press. The exhibition at KunstStücke shows a cross-section of different series of works.
Jana Dettmer, born 1965 in Braunschweig, Lower-Saxony.
Lives and works in Cologne and Southern France.
Studied law at the University of Bayreuth.
Studied painting at Freie Kunstschule Cologne.
Autodidactic training and assistance with the artists Karas, Zolper and Jansen.
Pure colour, structure, and form.
What happens just happens – random emergence as a principle.
"The less I try to influence the course of the picture, the more intense the result. That’s not easy for a structured person like myself, and many a battle must be fought.
When I am making a picture, I apply the paint, scrape it off again, recompose the image, reapply paint, and then use a squeegee to rework it. By the time it feels “right” to me, many layers of paint have been built up on the canvas, giving the picture depth, structure, and a feeling of vibrancy.
Abstract painting in particular appeals to me; it mirrors my attitude toward life, ranging between intuition and spontaneity, concept and structure, evoking my conception of independence, communication, emotionality, and aesthetics."
